Saint Rita School’s Philosophy of Learning states in part...
“St. Rita School provides an environment that allows our families and the entire community to become closer to God. Our School Community recognizes the sacred in every child and celebrates their cultural and economic diversity. Our Philosophy of Learning calls us to be models of our Catholic Faith. We endeavor to instill a strong Catholic Faith in partnership with our students’ parents.”
This philosophy of close cooperation in the spiritual development of children with their parents is the cornerstone of our preschool program. In addition, elements of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is incorporated into the curriculum for all children.
Our preschool classroom is a play-based environment that is designed to develop the whole child. Opened in the Fall of 2011, the Saint Rita Catholic Preschool offers parents a unique program that blends a classic, child-centered preschool experience with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Our intention is to help our students learn to reason and problem solve as they are exposed to tactile and engaging materials.
We provide age-appropriate challenges, activities, and art projects that develop each child’s fine and gross motor skills, science and math skills, and verbal and language proficiency. Our curriculum is divided into weekly units that introduce several components of the community as well as incorporate each child’s interests. All of our students spend time in the Atrium. It is our hope that every student will come home with a unique perspective on how our Catholic faith can enhance every aspect of our daily learning.
